It has its own dialect of the Estonian language, very diverse nature with plants that can boost your immune system, friendly locals and strong traditions in fishing. Mass tourism hasn’t touched the small island, so it still has wonderful and lonely sandy beaches. Prangli pine forests create enough fresh air to overwhelm the senses. Come and visit this beautiful Estonian island.

PRICE INCLUDES: transfers to port and back to city, sightseeing tour, guide service, truck tax, church visit, set lunch, ferry tickets.

Watch a video featuring Prangli Island Day Trip:

1

Enjoy a comfortable transfer along Tallinn’s seaside to Leppneeme harbour for an introduction to Estonia’s coastal life-style and Prangli Island

Prangli Island is the only northern Estonian island that has been continuously inhabited for more than 600 years. It still has a very strong fishing tradition, its own dialect of the Estonian language, diverse nature and friendly locals. First, the transfer takes you to the Viimsi peninsula and Leppneeme harbour, from where we will take a ferry to the island (1 hour).
2

Discover Prangli Island on an open-top truck or jeep

Touring around in an open-top soviet-type truck or jeep might not be the most comfortable, but it’s surely the most fun way to discover all the important sites that this small island (6.44 km2) has to offer. The most common themes that come up during the guided tour are the historical background of the coastal-folk and the islanders, and the stories and legends explaining the various sites and their lifestyle. The sightseeing tour takes about 2.5 hours and covers a small open-air museum, church, nature reserve and a natural gas grill etc. Strange, but true, the weather is usually much better on the island than it is on the mainland.
3

Taste local food

Depending on the group size and the day we will organize the lunch for you in either a touristic farm or at the seaside restaurant. Both venues offer island specialities.
4

Admire islands natural beauty

After lunch you will have a few hours to explore the island on your own. Prangli is untouched by mass tourism, and has wonderful sandy beaches and pine forests that create enough fresh air to overwhelm the senses. In the villages the atmosphere is authentic which feels like being in an open-air museum.
!

Optional tips to enhance your experience:

  • Take your time and stay on the island, we are happy to pre-book accommodation at a tourist farm or arrange beach camping. Villa of Nature Energy is available for our day trip clients with a special offer!
  • Add seal-watching experience with motorboat to your day trip! The price depends on the number of people.
  • Take the most out of Prangli island and book Hiking and Sauna on Prangli Island private tour.
  • You can rent a bike from the harbour while you have spare time after lunch and take a bike ride to go swimming in the summer or mushroom picking in the autumn.
  • You can also take time out to taste local drinks at the small harbour café.
  • For groups there are plenty of additional incentives and active programs available.

Prangli Island Daytrip

I toured Prangli Island with a wonderful guide, Helena. I was in the Baltics for three weeks, and this day on Prangli Island stands out as the highlight of my entire trip! The tour had a complimentary balance of time on your own to explore the island and a guided tour, with a provided lunch in the middle. Helena was personable and explained island life, noting how people on the island live, shop for groceries, and ferry to the mainland. Riding bike, sitting by the sea, and learning about Estonia made for an unforgettable day as we explored the island by truck. The tour was fun and adventurous while valuing the local heritage. We visited the Community Center and voted on the school children’s artwork. Helena even had a few surprises for us on our tour!

This is a must for all visiting Tallinn! Transportation was provided from Old Town. The day was perfect! Thank you, Helena, for such happy memories from my time in Estonia!

Had a fantastic day on Prangli island with our excellent tour guide. Really enjoyed the stories of the island and the one to one experience.
Her knowledge and information was second to none. We were very lucky with the weather, which made the trip even more special.
Must also mention the tasty lunch which we had on the island, complete with a celebratory slice of brithday cake.
A brilliant trip- would highly recommend.

Amazing day on the Prangli Island
Tripadvisor review: Day Trip to Prangli Island from Tallinn
It was an amazing trip !!! The island is really beautiful. I was there
yesterday (22 January 2022) solo with my guide. Everyone should travel
there. It’s a cool and silent island. You can walk in the forest.
There are many excellent places: the biggest stone on the island, a
small gas field, a place for camping, a beautiful church, amazing
views, a local school. It’s especially beautiful in the winter (for
me). I want to say “THANK YOU SO MUCH” to my guide Helena. She told
many interesting and fun stories about the island during our trip. She
showed me all these cool places.

If you want to relax/calm down/think/walk then go to the island. Don’t
be afraid of winter. We traveled by car and then I have an opportunity
to walk for 3 hours on foot. It was wonderful (you can see my
pictures).

This place is amazing the whole year.

Day trip to Prangli island
We wanted to have a chilled out day without driving, getting the bus etc. so we booked ourselves a package day trip to Prangli island. Just what we wanted for! All we had to do was to show up at the announced pick-up place in Tallinn in the morning, and off we went. Group was small, only four people. Our guide Liina was very friendly and briefly told us about the plan for the day. We had a pleasant approx. 30min drive to the harbour. As Liina had taken care of our ferry tickets, again all we had to do was to get on the ferry and enjoy the sunny boat trip. Once arriving to the island we got into a jeep with two more people joining us. Liina had great stories and knew well the history of the island. Without the jeep drive I think we might have just ended up sitting in the harbour so it was good it was included in the trip. We had nice meal included as well and some ‘free time’ after the drive. The island had a local shop and some restaurants in the harbour. In general, we loved the island and our trip. It felt really cosy and relaxing as the group was so small and our guide so genuinely nice and friendly. Thank you Liina and thanks for the pre-arrangements as well, everything worked out perfectly.

Tour around Prangli island
The island tour with Andreas was really cool. Found out many new interesting facts about this beautiful island. Locals are friendly and island vibe is on 100%. Recommend!

25. Aug 2019

The tour itself was great. Mikk, our guide for the day, was amazing and very knowledgeable about Prangli Island, so much so that we thought he was a resident. The island itself is amazing and great to have a nice hike (there are 3 hours of free time during the trip). The only thing that could be improved is to let guests know what is being served for lunch as we were served fish which not everyone in the group eats. Apart from that, the tour is very highly recommended.

Spontaneous Prangli Island visit
Last wee, my friend and I decided to spontaneously visit Prangli Island. On the ferry we saw a friendly and helpful Prangli Travel tour guide, who invited us to the sightseeing tour of the island. It was very informative. Thanks to the guide Liina for this wonderful day!

A fantastic, beautiful, peaceful and interesting day out
Firstly, thank you so much to our guide from Prangli travel Andreas. A local who was genuinely enthusiastic and proud to take us out of the city to discover the ‘real’ Estonia and a gentler way of life of the beautiful island of Prangli. The day was well organised from start to finish. The little ferry from a tiny quiet port was charming and the trip to the island a pleasure in itself. We were blessed with a fine sunny day too and calm seas. On arrival we transferred to an open top jeep for our island tour. Andreas stopped at many interesting and beautiful places to show us and give us information about. We had lunch at a charming rustic guest house with hearty local food – freshly caught fish, potatoes, cottage cheese with herbs, salad and lovely local bread. All really tasty. After lunch we had time to go for a nice walk before catching the boat back. Andreas kindly dropped us at our hotel afterwards tired but happy. A really good day out, natural, and beautiful countryside.

24. May 2019

We had a wonderful day on Pangli Island today.
It is certainly a wild and beautiful place. But the day was so wonderfully enhanced by the service of our guide Andreas Peetre.
He was at all times wonderfully entertaining and knowledgeable and we obviously shared a deep love of the great outdoors.
It was a cold and gloomy day but it didn’t matter!! Andreas made it very enjoyable.
We want to thank him very much.

Prangli Island tour
My sister and I did the Prangli Island tour with Berit. We had an amazing time. There were just 2 other travelers with us so the group was small and we were able to make it our own. The island is beautiful and a must see. Berit was very knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel very welcome on our second day in Estonia. We ate a delicious lunch with a local family (cod, potatoes, cottage cheese with dill, tomatoes and cucumber, followed by our choice of coffee or tea). If I ever get a change to come back to Estonia I will definitely do another tour and ask for Berit! Thanks for a lovely day!

23. Apr 2019

Day trip to Prangli Island
Very nice day trip. It was a good way to discover more about Tallinn and Estonia. Our guide Helen was fantastic, she brought the history of Estonia very close to us and gave us a lot of information about the way of living on Prangli island, with a personal touch. We really enjoyed our day.

29. Nov 2018

We experienced the island the way only Estonians do
We wanted to visit an Estonian island, so we decided to book the Prangli Island tour with Prangli Travel. The experience was amazing, every second was worth it. The island was beautiful and quiet this time of the year. We were told we were brave to visit in November, but at the end I think we were lucky because we experienced the island the way only Estonians do. Helen, our guide, was incredibly nice and she gave us useful insight about Prangli and Estonia. We had an amazing day!

31. Aug 2018

Prangli Island day trip
I went on the Prangli Island day trip with Kristiina and had the most lovely day! The island is super pretty and peaceful and the guide was very professional and also great to talk to. 🙂 She told many interesting stories about the island, which has been continuously inhabited for about 600 years. That and riding on the back of a pick-up truck to see places I couldn’t reach by foot made the day much more special than if I had gone there by myself. We visited quite a few interesting sights in the morning, from the tower of a cute wooden church to a natural gas source (where I could blow the fire out myself, haha) and even picked some delicious berries on the way. Lunch was tasty and took place in a beautiful scenery. After that I had about 3 hours to explore the island by myself, walking around and enjoying the views. Totally recommend it!

24. Jul 2018

Peaceful Estonian island
Very peaceful island with a taste of what island life must be like. It was interesting to learn about the history and geography of the island and discover some tranquil spots of coastland.

18. Jul 2018

The Serenity of Prangli Island
We (myself + wife) had an amazing visit, many thanks to our Prangli Travel tour guide Berit who was exceptionally warm and welcoming and who spoke from her personal/ intimate connect with Prangli island, having worked on the island as a school teacher. The small group size was perfect and helped us strike friendly conversations not just with Berit but also our fellow travellers, who like Berit were local Estonians and extremely warm in their demeanor and sharing.

Day Trip to a beautiful Estonian Island

Thanks!

13. Apr 2018

We had great time with you. Very interesting and beautiful Estonian island and great people.

30. Aug 2017

Day in wonderful Prangli!
It was my third time in Prangli, but this time with 30 guests all over the Europe. We had a great day with a very comprehensive tour on the island and excellent local summer lunch. Absolutely recommended.

30. Aug 2017

Peaceful Prangli island
We had a day trip to Prangli island with family. In spite of a bit of rain, we had a wonderful time! Our tour guide, Kristiina gave a thorough history of the island and the Estonian cultural traditions. The amazing thing is that on this island was built one of the smallest Estonian wooden church, the St. Laurentius. It was quite interesting to listen to the legend how a chapel used to stand on the same spot long time ago. Prangli is the most peaceful island I’ve ever been! It is an off-the beaten path to anyone who would like to get closer to nature!

1. May 2017

Weekend on Prangli Island 2017
We wanted to thank you for your help, cooperation, and everything. Before I thought that Ruhnu island is the most silent and calm inhabited island in Estonia, but now we see Prangli as the same, and so close to Tallinn.

7. Jul 2016

Day trip to Prangli
Prangli island is quite small (around 130 inhabitants living in 3 small villages), but it makes the island charming. It’s a great place to spend one or two days: hiking around the island and along beaches, swim in the Baltic Sea (water is maybe colder than in Tallinn, Haapsalu or Parnu, but is much cleaner!), rest in almost deserted beaches (sandy or covered with stones and boulders).

21. Jul 2015

Prangli Island Day Trip
A sea trip of about an hour gets you to a place that time seems to have by passed. The island is out of this world. Peaceful and quiet, but small enough to do in a day. To camp over night would take the visitor to another place…..and the history and museum all help to make the trip worth while.

28. Jun 2015

A beautiful Estonian island
An hour ferry ride not to far from Tallinn takes you to a small natural world of forests, a church, local school, museum, community centre, souvenir shop, historical cemetery – what an island offers and needs, ah and a gas tube (!) and many other little unexpected sights. One wishes to just stay longer than only for a day. Carmen my guide really knows the island and its spirit and interesting history.
Thank you very much! TÄNAN!!!
