Overnight Winter Experience in Estonia

If one day in Estonian winter nature feels too short, stay overnight and experience it more deeply. This private winter escape combines peaceful forest landscapes, traditional sauna culture, cosy accommodation, and one carefully chosen outdoor activity. The programme is flexible and tailored to your group, season, and preferences.

Highlights of the experience:

  • Transfers through Estonia’s winter countryside
  • Overnight stay in a cosy country farmhouse in Kõrvemaa forests
  • Traditional Estonian sauna experience in the evening.
  • Homemade breakfast in a calm rural setting
  • One guided winter activity of your choice
  • Flexible programme designed individually for each group

This overnight winter experience takes you away from the city and into the quiet forests of Kõrvemaa, one of Estonia’s most beautiful nature areas. After pick-up from Tallinn, we travel through snowy landscapes, small villages, and open countryside before arriving at a welcoming country farm surrounded by Natura2000 forest.

In the evening, you can enjoy a traditional Estonian sauna — a deeply rooted local custom and a perfect way to relax after time outdoors. You will stay overnight in a cosy farmhouse, where silence, nature, and fresh air set the pace.

The experience includes one guided winter activity, chosen from the list below. Each activity lasts around two hours and is adapted to weather and daylight conditions. Some activities take place in daylight, others after dark, creating a different atmosphere in the winter forest.

The following morning starts with a tasty homemade breakfast before returning to Tallinn or continuing your journey.

All programmes are private and tailored to each group.

Lantern hike

A guided evening walk through the snowy forest by lantern light. The soft glow creates a calm, slightly magical atmosphere, very different from the daytime hiking. We move at a relaxed pace, listen to the quiet of the forest, and enjoy the stillness of winter nature.

This activity is best after dark and does not require previous hiking experience.

Snow-shoe hike

Snowshoes allow you to walk easily across snow, frozen bogs, and forest paths that are difficult to reach in other seasons. The hike takes place in quiet winter landscapes, away from roads and crowds.

The pace is gentle, and the route is adjusted to the group and weather conditions. Snowshoes help keep the hike comfortable even in deeper snow.

Also available as day trip!

Cani-cross hike with sled-dogs

During this activity, each participant is paired with a sled dog and attached to a waist harness. The dog helps by pulling gently, making the hike easier and more fun. Before the hike, you learn about the dogs, their daily life, and how they are trained. The walk takes place in protected forest areas and is suitable even for first-time participants.

Also available as day trip!

Ice skating

Ice skating in nature offers a unique way to experience frozen rivers, lakes, or flooded meadows. When conditions allow, we skate across natural ice, tailoring our approach to the group’s skill level.

This activity depends entirely on ice conditions and safety. Routes are carefully selected, and all necessary equipment is provided.

Cross-country skiing lessons

A guided introduction to cross-country skiing, Estonia’s most popular winter sport. The lesson covers basic techniques and snow movement, making it suitable for beginners and those with little experience.

The route follows forest trails and open landscapes. Equipment and instruction are included. After you can continue longer on your own.

Kick sledding tour with equipment. Guided or on your own

Kick sledding is a traditional and easy way to move across snowy and icy paths. The sled is stable and simple to use, making it suitable for all ages. You can choose a guided tour or enjoy a short independent ride near the accommodation. This activity is relaxed and playful rather than physically demanding.

FOR AN EXTRA CHARGE IN WINTER:

– Snowmobile experience (includes instruction and approx. 1–2 hours of driving)
