Overnight Nature Experience in Estonia
If one day in Estonian nature feels too short, stay overnight and experience it more deeply. This private escape combines peaceful forest landscapes, traditional sauna culture, cosy accommodation, and one carefully chosen outdoor activity. The programme is flexible and adapted to your group, the season, and current conditions.
Highlights of the experience:
- Transfers through Estonia’s forested countryside
- Overnight stay in a cosy country farmhouse in Kõrvemaa forests
- Traditional Estonian sauna experience in the evening
- Homemade breakfast in a calm rural setting
- One guided outdoor activity of your choice, adapted to the season
- Flexible programme designed individually for each group
This overnight nature experience takes you away from the city and into the quiet forests of Kõrvemaa, one of Estonia’s most beautiful nature areas. After the pick-up from Tallinn, we travel through changing landscapes — from green forests and open countryside in warmer months to snowy scenery in winter — before arriving at a welcoming country farm surrounded by Natura2000 forest.
In the evening, you can enjoy a traditional Estonian sauna — a deeply rooted local custom and a perfect way to relax after time outdoors. You will stay overnight in a cosy farmhouse, where silence, nature, and fresh air set the pace.
The experience includes one guided outdoor activity, chosen according to the season and conditions. Each activity lasts around two hours and may take place during the day or in the evening, depending on daylight and weather.
The following morning starts with a tasty homemade breakfast before returning to Tallinn or continuing your journey.
All programmes are private and tailored to each group.

Guided hike with bog lake swimming
The hike leads through forest trails and open bog landscape to a natural bog lake. Bog lakes are shallow, dark-water lakes characteristic of Estonian wetlands – the water is soft, slightly acidic, and surprisingly warm in summer. Swimming in a bog lake is a local tradition and a memorable experience in the Estonian wilderness.
The route is not strenuous, and the pace is relaxed. No previous hiking experience is needed. Swimming is optional – participants are welcome to wade in or simply enjoy the landscape from the shore.
This activity is best from June to September, when water temperatures are comfortable. The most beautiful times of the day are sunrises and sunsets.
Foraging hike and wild food workshop
A guided walk through the forest to gather seasonal wild plants, berries, and mushrooms. The guide explains which species are edible, how to identify them safely, and how they fit into Estonian rural cooking traditions. After the walk, the foraged ingredients are used in a simple outdoor food preparation session.
The activity is suitable for all experience levels. No previous knowledge of plants or mushrooms is required – the guide handles identification throughout.
What you find depends on the season. Spring brings fresh herbs and leaves, summer offers berries and early mushrooms, and autumn is the best time for a full mushroom harvest.
Cani-cross hike with sled dogs
During this activity, each participant is paired with a sled dog and attached to a waist harness. The dog pulls gently alongside you, adding energy and momentum to the hike. Before setting off, the guide introduces the dogs, explains how they live and train, and walks you through the basics of cani-cross.
The walk takes place in protected forest areas and is suitable for first-time participants. No previous running or hiking experience is required – the dogs set a comfortable pace and are well used to working with new people.
This activity is available year-round!
SUP board tour on the river with beaver watching
Stand-up paddleboarding on a calm Estonian river is a quiet, unhurried way to explore the waterway. The route follows a stretch of river where beavers are active, and the guide points out signs of their presence – dams, gnawed trees, and slides along the banks. In calm conditions, beavers are occasionally spotted directly on the water.
Instruction and all equipment are included. No previous paddleboarding experience is needed, as the river is slow-moving and well-suited for beginners.
Fat bike tour with cycling equipment
Fat bikes have wide, low-pressure tyres that allow riding on soft and uneven terrain – forest paths, sandy tracks, and ground that would be difficult on a regular bicycle. The tour follows trails through the surrounding forests and countryside.
The pace and route are adjusted to the group’s fitness and experience. No specific cycling skills are required beyond basic bike riding. All equipment is included, including helmets.
This activity is suitable year-round and works particularly well in conditions where regular bikes would struggle.
Activities with snow
Lantern hike
A guided evening walk through the snowy forest by lantern light. The soft glow creates a calm atmosphere that feels very different from a daytime hike – sounds carry further, shadows shift between the trees, and the pace slows naturally. The guide shares stories about the forest and local winter traditions along the way.
This activity is best after dark and does not require previous hiking experience. Warm clothing is recommended, as temperatures in the forest drop noticeably in the evening.
Snow-shoe hike
Snowshoes allow you to walk easily across snow, frozen bogs, and forest paths that are difficult to reach in other seasons. The hike takes you into quiet winter landscapes away from roads and trails that regular footwear cannot reach.
The pace is gentle and the route is adjusted to the group’s fitness and the weather conditions. All snowshoe equipment is provided and the guide explains how to use it before setting off. No previous experience is needed.
Ice skating
Ice skating in nature offers a different experience from an indoor rink. When conditions allow, we skate across frozen rivers, lakes, or flooded meadows – wide open spaces with the surrounding forest on the horizon. The route is chosen based on ice thickness and safety, and is adjusted to suit the group’s skill level.
This activity depends entirely on ice conditions. We confirm suitability on the day, and all necessary equipment is provided. Beginners are welcome – the guide adapts the session accordingly.
Cross-country skiing lessons
A guided introduction to cross-country skiing, Estonia’s most popular winter sport. The lesson covers basic movement techniques and posture and is well suited for beginners or those who have not skied in a while.
The route follows forest trails and open stretches of landscape near the accommodation. All equipment is included – skis, poles, and boots. After the lesson, participants can continue exploring the trails independently.
Kick sledging tour with equipment. Guided or on your own
Kick sledging is a traditional and easy way to travel across snowy and icy paths. The sledge is stable and straightforward to use – one foot stays on the runner while the other pushes off the ground. It is suitable for all ages and requires no prior experience.
You can choose a guided tour with the group, or take a shorter independent ride around the area near the accommodation. The activity is relaxed and unhurried rather than physically demanding, and works well as an add-on to a quieter day.
