Tallinn has become one of the cities, where it is easy for vegans to find a restaurant. There are many hidden and not so hidden gems when it comes to eating plant-based meals in Tallinn. Whether you’re a vegan or just enjoy tasty and nutritious food, there is a wide choice of cafes and restaurants where you can find local vegans enjoying yet another cup of oat milk cappuccino with a slice of tasty chocolate cake. Not to mention places where you can have plant-based pastas, soups, curries, burgers and the list goes on. What are the best vegan places in Tallinn? We have put together a guide to eating vegan in Tallinn and made a list of the 5 places we like the most. All the listed places are 100% vegan.

1. Vegan restaurant V

The vegan restaurant V is the first in our list as it might be the most popular vegan restaurant in Estonia. It is perfect for birthdays or other celebrations and also just for enjoying a meal with the restaurant quality. Vegan V can easily convince even those who are not too familiar with plant-based meals. Since our Prangli Travel office is nearby, it is one of our favorite places for having lunch. Who could resist their daily offers that always have new and interesting dishes such as beetroot ravioli, orange flavoured tempeh with rice, tofu and spinach filled pasta shells and so on… Are you convinced yet? Prices of the main courses start from 8.20€ and be sure to book a table in advance. Like we said, it is a small but very popular place!

2. Karu Talu Šokolaad

Karu Talu Šokolaad is the cutest little vegan sweet shop in Tallinn Old Town! This is THE place when you are craving for some vegan desserts. Do you remember what candy stores used to be like? Being in this store takes you back in time as you walk past piles of chocolate and cakes, let your eyes indulge in everything you see, smell the sweet aroma filling the store and feel your taste buds watering. If you ask nicely, the shopkeepers may even let you taste some of the goodies and you definitely don’t want to leave the store with empty hands. Everything they sell is made by themselves, including pastries, different (and really interesting) types of chocolates, their special snickers chocolate and during summer even hand-made ice cream! When you are planning to take a walk in Tallinn Old Town, be sure to take a peek into this store as well!

3. Vigri Café

When looking for a full vegan buffet in Tallinn, this is the place! Vigri café is popular especially during the lunch time. Since it is not too small it is normally easy to find a seat. The menu changes every day and the price depends on how much food you put on your plate. What’s most important, they have the best peanut butter and cranberry-marzipan pastries in town! Special tip: you get a discount on the buffet meal, if you have their client card.

Vigri café is located in the Olympic Centre which was built for the Moscow Olympic Games in 1980. We pass by and take a look at this building during the Soviet Estonia tour. The name Vigri actually comes from the name of the mascot of the sailing competition held in Tallinn Olympic Centre during the Olympics. You can also see a display about the Moscow Olympic Games when entering the café.

4.  Rohekohvik

Rohekohvik, in our opinion, is the newcomer of the year! It was opened in July 2019, but has already won our hearts with their minimalist design and delicious, yet healthy meals. Located near Telliskivi, the hipster area of Tallinn, they definitely fit in the scene. Make sure you don’t forget to try one of their delicious-looking cakes! Rohekohvik has daily offers, so if you are looking for a place for lunch, we suggest trying out one of their tasty bowls or soups which change daily. This is also a place to go to when you want to eat good food and get some work done behind your computer. We don’t know about you, but we definitely think that this place has kind of inspirational aura, so to speak.

5. VegMachine

The best vegan fast food place in Tallinn! Whenever you’re in a hurry and want something good to eat, check out VegMachine in Balti Jaama Turg (Baltic Station Market). Their Mother Trucker Burger is legendary among the vegans in Estonia! They used to have only a food truck and serve their food at festivals, but fortunately they decided to have a permanent place in Tallinn. This made all the local vegans very happy! Their menu consists of the Mother Trucker Burger with pulled sweet potato, Not Dog with beyond sausage, cheeseburger with beyond meat and so on. Prices of the meals start from 4 euros. Go there when you are in a hurry or just craving for plant-based junk food in Tallinn.
