If you want to cover the two main attractions in Tallinn – its romantic Old Town as well as the nature and greenery outside the city; then this day trip from Tallinn is made especially for you. Start the day with a trip to Jägala waterfall to escape the morning crowd visiting Tallinn. The waterfall is only a 30 minute drive away and located right on the doorstep of Lahemaa national park which is recognised for its natural beauty. It is the highest natural waterfall in Estonia and one of the seven wonderful waterfalls near Tallinn. It is easily accessible, allowing you to get out of the city and take some beautiful pictures with the waterfall in the background.

Once you have filled your lungs with clean fresh air and enjoyed the peace of the countryside, come back to Tallinn where the morning rush has calmed down, leaving the streets more empty and easier to walk. Have a guided 1.5 hour Old Town sightseeing tour, covering all the main attractions, and learn about the history of Estonia from Medieval times, Russian and Soviet periods, all the way to nowadays. Explore the cobbled streets and colourful houses and enjoy the view over the red rooftops from the viewing platforms.

After the tour you can stay in the Old Town or be taken back to the cruise terminal.

1

Pick up from the Cruise Ship Terminal or the Old Town

Whether you visit Tallinn by a cruise ship or staying here for longer, your tour guide will pick you up from a place most convenient for you. Get yourself ready and start your half-day tour without any hassle.
2

Get out of Tallinn into the outdoors

While most of the tourists start the day with a walking tour in the Old Town, you can escape the mainstream crowd and start your day trip with a tour out of Tallinn. It takes about 30 minutes to drive to Jägala waterfalls and you will be passing forests and natural areas on the way. It is a good indication of the small population in this country and how much land has still remained untouched.
3

Visit Jägala Waterfall and admire the lush greenery

Jägala waterfall is the biggest natural waterfall in Estonia and  one of the most popular attractions by the locals. Visit the nature with a local guide, see the limestone cliff that is typical for Northern Estonian landscape and search for millions of years old fossils.
4

Drive back to Tallinn

After visiting the waterfall your tour guide will take you back to Tallinn. By the time you get back, there is a good chance that the streets will be more empty and you won’t be surrounded by large tour groups as you might be in the morning.
5

Have a walking tour in the Old Town

Tallinn’s jewel and main highlight is the Medieval Old Town. As if it was torn out of the history books, the compact, cobblestone area between the Town Walls is easily walkable and offers plenty to see and to discover. We will introduce you to the gabled houses, churches and squares that developed here between the 13th and 15th centuries when Tallinn boomed as a key Hanseatic commercial hub, while telling you the history and colourful legends from this period. The 1.5 hour sightseeing tour includes visiting the lower town and the upper town, showing all the main attractions.
!

Optional tips to enhance your experience:

Our guide was very knowledgeable with the insights, culture, and history of Tallinn. The Jagala waterfall was super pretty, it’s small but such a great place to leave the city! Old Town is magical and the Estonian food/ restaurant (The Farm) our guide recommended was such a great way to end our tour. Thank you so much!

Great experience with a fantastic guide
The guide Liina picked us up from the hostel and on the way to the waterfalls she told a lot about the history of estonia. The waterfalls where very nice to visit and some nice pictures were made. The tour through the city was also very nice. There were so many stories to be told so in a short period we heard everything about the history of Tallinn and Estonia. Liina is a great storyteller! Would recommend this tour in Tallinn for everybody.
