Wildlife & Seal Watching Tour by Sea-safari Boat

Escape the city and discover the marine wildlife of Kolga Bay on a small-group nature tour by electric boat. This is a full immersion into Estonia’s coastal ecosystem – a quiet, unhurried encounter with grey seals, seabirds, and some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in Northern Estonia.

Highlights of the tour

  • Glide silently across Kolga Bay aboard a specially designed wildlife observation boat with an electric engine – quiet enough not to disturb the animals
  • Watch grey seals resting on rocky islets or swimming alongside the boat in their natural habitat
  • Spot coastal seabirds, including eiders, cormorants, and other Baltic Sea species
  • Explore the rich coastal ecosystem of the Kolga archipelago with an expert guide – a marine biologist, wildlife photographer, or nature educator
  • Take photos and videos from low sidewalls, mirrored windows, and open roof hatches designed for unobstructed views
  • Enjoy fresh sea air and panoramic seascapes in a comfortable, stable vessel built from recycled plastic and seating up to 5 guests

The tour departs from Kaberneeme harbour, just 45 minutes from Tallinn – a small fishing village at the edge of the Kolga archipelago. Once on the water, your guide will introduce you to the life of grey seals, local seabird species, and the unique coastal landscapes of Northern Estonia. The boat’s quiet electric motor allows you to approach wildlife closely without disturbing them, making this one of the most authentic wildlife experiences available near Tallinn.

This tour is ideal for anyone interested in wildlife, birdwatching, coastal scenery, or nature photography – whether you’re visiting Tallinn for a day or looking for something beyond the city.

Please note: the route and duration may vary depending on weather conditions. Warm clothing is recommended.

1

Transfer to Kaberneeme harbour

Kaberneeme harbour is located approximately 45 minutes from Tallinn city centre. Transport to the harbour is not included in the tour price, but we can arrange a transfer on request – just let us know when booking. The harbour itself is a peaceful starting point at the edge of the Kolga archipelago.

2

Board the wildlife observation boat

Your tour begins as you step aboard a quiet, low-profile vessel built specifically for nature watching. The electric motor keeps noise to a minimum, while mirrored windows, low sidewalls, and open roof hatches give you an unobstructed view in every direction. The boat seats up to 5 guests and is stable and comfortable even in changing sea conditions.

3

Spot grey seals and seabirds in Kolga Bay

Grey seals are the highlight of the tour – you may see them resting on rocky islets or swimming close to the boat. Keep your eyes on the water and the coastline: eiders, cormorants, and other coastal birds are also regular sightings in these waters. Binoculars are available on board for a closer look.

4

Discover Estonia's northern coastal landscapes

Your guide – a marine biologist, wildlife photographer, or nature educator – will share stories about the Baltic Sea ecosystem, grey seal behaviour, local coastal traditions, and the hidden islands of the Kolga archipelago. It’s a rare chance to deepen your understanding of a part of Estonia that most visitors never see.
