Explore Tallinn’s Old Town, the best-preserved medieval city centre in Northern Europe
The Old Town is often compared to an open-air museum, showcasing some of the best-preserved medieval architecture in Europe. We have plenty of stories to tell — for example, why Tallinn “limps”, who Old Thomas is, and even legends about the devil’s weddings in the city.
Historic streets, courtyards, and squares are all packed inside nearly 2 km of limestone city walls, creating an authentic atmosphere. This is also the reason why Tallinn Old Town is so loved by both locals and visitors.
Enjoy the transfer ride through the modern city centre to Kadriorg
In Kadriorg, home to a baroque palace and the modern Kumu Art Museum, we stop to explore the area. We also explain how Kadriorg got its name, how it relates to Peter the Great, and why it remains one of Tallinn’s most visited green spaces.
On the way to Pirita, we pass the Song Festival Grounds — a legendary place where Estonians sang themselves to freedom in the late 1980s.
Admire Tallinn’s coastline and the famous “sprat can” in Pirita
Most tourist guides and websites promoting Tallinn include at least one photo of the so-called “sprat can” — the famous silhouette of Tallinn’s skyline.
On this tour, we make sure you have the opportunity to capture your own photo of this iconic view from Pirita or Viimsi. Tallinn has 46 km of coastline and a rich maritime history, which becomes clear as we drive along the eastern coastal road.
Along the way, we pass the Olympic yachting harbour built for the 1980 Moscow Olympics, as well as the Tallinn TV Tower. You will also see the ruins of St. Bridget’s Convent, a medieval structure that gave the area its name.
Visit Viimsi and the Open Air museum
The sea defines the character of Viimsi. Here, coastal communities have lived for centuries, and their way of life is presented in the Viimsi Open Air Museum.
During the tour, you explore historic farmhouses and everyday objects that reflect traditional coastal life. In Soviet times, Viimsi was part of a restricted border zone, closed to non-residents.
Despite that, a very successful collective fishing farm — the Kirov fishing kolkhoz — operated in the area. During the visit, you will also hear about border zone rules and what life was like here during that period.
Optional tips to enhance your experience:
- Let us give you hints on where to find the most authentic Estonian handicraft shops and restaurants serving Estonian food;
- We can organize a lunch/dinner for your group
- Add a guided Virtual Reality tour on Harju Street (years 1939–1944)

Tour Reviews
Amazing guide. So personable and excellent knowledge of all areas we toured. Felt like we were walking and talking with a friend. There wasn’t a question he couldn’t answer and his love for his adopted country was so evident. All we saw was incredible. Just did a drive by of Kadriorg park and would probably preferred longer there and less at Viimsi but still over the top happy with our experience. Thank you Jorge from Prangli travel.
Thanks to Nele for this exhaustive tour of the city of Tallinn. It was very effective in the management time to see the highlights of the city and generally informative about Estonia and
its inhabitants.
Opportunity to see a lot of famous places in one tour with experienced guide.
