This tour takes place at Veskijärv lake, located in a natural reserve surrounded by primeval forest. The landscape has been shaped during the ice age, creating a calm and scenic environment for a winter activity.
The tour offers a different way to experience nature in Estonia. During the activity, your instructor will provide all necessary equipment and explain how to drill ice holes and prepare fishing lines. You will also learn basic techniques used in local ice fishing traditions.
If you are lucky, you may catch perch or even pike. Even without a catch, the experience focuses on spending time outdoors, enjoying the winter environment, and learning a new skill in a relaxed setting.

Drive from Tallinn to Veskijärv lake
Your experience in Estonia begins with a pick-up from your hotel and a drive out of Tallinn. The journey to Veski järv lake takes about 1.5 hours. The lake is located in Lahemaa Suursoo Landscape Conservation Area in Lääne County. This natural reserve is known for its primeval forest and landscapes shaped during the ice age.
Walk to the frozen lake
Upon arrival, you will walk to Veskijärv lake and take in the quiet winter surroundings. The lake is, on average, 1.7 metres deep and offers a peaceful setting for your ice-fishing experience.
Ice fishing experience on the lake
Your instructor will provide all necessary equipment and explain how to get started.
You will learn how to drill holes in the ice, bait fish hooks, and wait for the fish. If you are lucky, you may catch perch or even pike. Even without a catch, the experience lets you enjoy time outdoors in a calm winter setting.
Prices for the Ice-Fishing Experience
For families with children, we usually offer a discounted price. Please ask for more information. The activity is not recommended for kids under 7. Children’s discounts are available only for groups with at least two adults.
The minimum group size for our tours is two people. Solo travellers are welcome to join others. Send the request with possible dates, and we will give you more information.
